1. Key Components and Design of 40kN Suspension Glass Insulators
40kN Rating: Refers to the mechanical tensile strength (40 kilonewtons ≈ 4,077 kgf). This means the insulator can withstand a vertical load of up to 40kN before failure, ensuring reliability under mechanical stress (e.g., wind, ice, or conductor weight).
Type: Part of a string hung vertically from transmission towers. Multiple insulators can be linked in series to increase voltage capacity and flexibility.
Glass Material: Made of toughened glass (tempered for strength). The bell-shaped design sheds water and reduces contamination buildup. A metal cap (galvanized steel or aluminum) and pin connect individual units into a string.
