Single Tension Design:
Unidirectional Load Handling: Manages axial tension from conductors at termination points (dead-end towers) or moderate-angle towers.
Simpler Configuration: Uses a single insulator string (vs. double tension’s dual strings), reducing hardware complexity and cost.
Mechanical Strength: Rated for typical loads (e.g., 50–120 kN), depending on span length, conductor weight, and environmental factors (wind/ice).
Hardware Components:
Tension Clamp: Secures the conductor and transfers mechanical load to the insulator string.
Ball-and-Socket or Clevis-Tongue Links: Connect the insulator to the tower and conductor, allowing articulation to avoid stress concentrations.
Yoke Plate/Anchor: Attaches the insulator string to the tower structure.
Glass Insulators:
High Durability: Resistant to UV, pollution, and temperature fluctuations. Mechanical strength typically ranges from 70 kN to 160 kN.
